Paul Langlois of the Tragically Hip

Paul Langlois’s fourth solo album, Smooth Rock Falls, is the The Tragically Hip guitarist’s most personal work to date — a rock record shaped by grief, reflection, and the quiet details that linger after loss. Written following the deaths of his parents, Terry and Adrien, the album finds Langlois processing absence through songwriting while holding onto the “little quirks” that keep loved ones present: a father’s distinctive hello, a mother’s constant check-ins.
While only a few of the album’s ten tracks are directly about his parents, they form the emotional anchor of a record concerned with memory, nostalgia, and the great unknown. From the brooding opener and first single “Hardly Holding On” to the reflective closer “MorningGuyNightGuy,” Smooth Rock Falls moves between character-driven narratives and deeply personal moments. Songs like “How You Are,” “Into the Night,” and “Wrapped in a Bow” explore grief not as a single event, but as something lived with and carried forward.
The album takes its title from Smooth Rock Falls, a small northern Ontario town where Langlois’s father grew up — a place he often spoke about. An old family photograph from there became the album cover. Terry is also credited for the album’s swirling background artwork, and Langlois recreated the cover image with his sister Sue for the back sleeve. In the liner notes, he writes simply: “This one’s for and is inspired by our incredible parents.”
Recorded live off the floor at The Hip’s legendary Bathouse studio, Smooth Rock Falls was self-produced over three focused sessions with Langlois’s longtime bandmates Greg Ball and Joe Carscallen (guitars), Bill Anglin (drums), Matt Mulvihill (bass), and engineer Nyles Spencer. The result is a warm, human record that captures both intimacy and momentum.
For Langlois, the album also marks a continued evolution as a solo artist. After decades as part of one of Canada’s most revered bands, and following the loss of frontman Gord Downie, Smooth Rock Falls reflects an artist increasingly comfortable stepping forward — vocally, emotionally, and creatively. “The older I get, the less I care about exposing myself a little,” he says. “This is where I’m at.”
At its core, Smooth Rock Falls is about family, aging, and learning to sit with uncertainty — and then, just as honestly, getting back into a room with a band and making rock ’n roll songs you believe in.

EIPHNH is a Greek-Canadian music project created by recording artist Irene and Toronto DJ, producer, and label owner George Loukas. Blending emotional vocals with dark electronic production, freestyle roots, and modern club energy, EIPHNH delivers a bold new vision for Greek music—dramatic, melodic, and built for a new generation.
Born in Canada with Greek and Ukrainian roots, Irene first gained recognition in the freestyle scene for her powerful vocals and dance-floor anthems, including Edge of a Broken Heart, Without Your Love, Real Love, Where R U Now, Miracles, and Only in My Dreams. She has performed alongside freestyle icons such as Stevie B, Rockell, Cynthia, Johnny O, and Zoe.
George Loukas brings over 20 years of experience as a DJ and producer, crafting a signature sound that blends house, deep tech, freestyle, and darker electronic influences. After working with Universal Music and attracting interest from Sony and Interscope, he now leads his own label, Resonique, where he continues to shape the project’s distinctive sound.

Turkwaz

Turkwaz is a unique combination of four musician/singers, immersed in diverse traditions from mysterious Sufi devotional love songs, to rousing Thracian dance music. Each performer brings a special flavour to the group. Maryem Hassan Tollar draws on her Arabic language heritage, Jayne Brown and Sophia Grigoriadis bring their experience with Greek music to the mix and Brenna MacCrimmon adds her Turkish fascination.
Chris Oday

Chris Oday has built a reputation for his smooth, vintage R&B sound and warm, humorous performances. A skilled multi-instrumentalist, he self-produced his debut hit Complicated, which gained over 400,000 Spotify streams and was featured on playlists like New Music Friday. Influenced by Leon Bridges, Childish Gambino, and Daniel Caesar, Chris blends fresh and timeless energy in his emotive guitar and soulful vocals, creating intimate, memorable moments. She uses her upbringing and artistic growth in different countries like Mexico, England and now Canada to create music that showcase these experiences in her storytelling and performances. Toronto’s own Armando is an Italo-Canadian international recording artist who has performed on stages around the world, including the O2 Arena in Prague, New York and Milan Fashion Week, the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monaco, and the World Cup of Snow Polo in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
He co-wrote the official FIFA World Cup song “OLE OLE” for Team Switzerland and was the only Canadian finalist in Grammy Award-winning producer Timbaland’s global artist search, finishing in the Top 40 out of more than 20,000 artists.

Lori Lamarche is a Cree Indigenous vocalist, songwriter, hand drummer, and cultural presenter from Northern Ontario. Known for her powerful voice and dynamic stage presence, Lori performs an eclectic mix of musical styles including Indigenous, country, jazz, R&B, pop, rock, and opera. She also writes and performs original Indigenous music inspired by her Cree heritage and life experiences.
Lori has performed at venues and events across Canada and the United States, including the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, Rogers Centre for the Toronto Blue Jays, Fenway Park in Boston, the CNE Bandshell, Toronto City Hall, and the Taste of the Danforth. She has also provided opening ceremonies and cultural performances for numerous conferences, organizations, and community events.

He won the First Prize in Extreme Talents 2009 in Quebec, the Second Place in the TV show Zoink’d in Canada and Jury’s Special Prize at Izhevsk International Circus Festival in Russia. SONIC MIRAGE is the solo project of Toronto-based flutist and improviser Artur Safronov (INSOMNIA). Moving between Ukrainian folk music, free improvisation, and contemporary electronic genres, the project blends acoustic performance with trance, psych-groove, and meditative repetition. Drawing from classical and early Baroque traditions as much as from underground electronic music, Safronov approaches the flute as a live, reactive instrument — something capable of carrying rhythm, atmosphere, and raw emotional movement simultaneously. Sarah Louis-Jean is a Montreal-born contemporary circus artist celebrated worldwide for her mastery of Boleadoras. She holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest Boleadoras hits and is one of the few women performing this rare art form internationally.
Her unique style blends dance, percussion, and manipulation, setting her apart from the traditional gaucho technique. Trained at the National Circus School of Montreal and with Cirque du Soleil artists, she later performed with Cirque du Soleil as both a Boleadoras artist and artistic director.

Effie Star is a vocalist, lyricist, songwriter, poet and author with acting experience who absolutely loves musical theatre! Formerly represented by Canadian Idol’s Zack Werner and Sanderson Law, Effie has received strong international industry interest for her songwriting and vocals, and has completed countless live vocal performances. Effie has co-written and recorded two albums, the first with her rock/fusion band, Illusion, and the second as a solo pop artist. A personal favourite performance includes singing by invitation at Nana Mouskouri’s 80th birthday gala event in Toronto.

Ferhan Dogmusoz is a multi-instrumentalist (oud and jumbush) and composer originally from Türkiye who was born into a musical family. Dogmusoz has appeared in some of the most popular radio programs and TV shows as an oud player along with various well-known musicians. After graduating as an engineer from Hacettepe University, his adventure led him to Russia where he released several studio albums and performed with many ensembles and musicians from all over the world. His style combines older traditions with contemporary innovations rooted in a deep knowledge of the art of improvisation.

After graduating Quebec Circus School as the first Japanese man, he has been performing his sensational acts for galas, circus companies including Cirque du Soleil and a variety of festivals all over the world. He won the First Prize in Extreme Talents 2009 in Quebec, the Second Place in the TV show Zoink’d in Canada and Jury’s Special Prize at Izhevsk International Circus Festival in Russia.
